Good pizza cutting wheels are sharp and can damage kitchen counter tops. A low cost and effective solution is to pile up a number of layers of newspaper on the counter while cooking the pizza. When the pizza is ready, it can be placed directly on the newspaper and then cut without risking damage to the counter. This also reduces the need to clean the counter. Newspaper in most countries is quite clean and thus there is no reason for concern about contamination from the printing.
